Le Beaucet is a quiet Provençal village in the Vaucluse, clinging to its cliff on the southern edge of the Monts de Vaucluse, between Mont Ventoux and the Luberon. A warm, peaceful base for Venasque, Carpentras and the Luberon.
Le Beaucet sits in the Vaucluse (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), in the Communauté d'agglomération Ventoux-Comtat-Venaissin, on the southern edge of the Monts de Vaucluse and at the gateway to the Parc naturel régional du Luberon. The medieval village nestles under the castle ruins, with two monumental gates of the old fortress. The château esplanade (communal since 1994) opens views of Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Carpentras plain; summer exhibitions and concerts take place here. The Romanesque church (12th century, enlarged in the 15th) is usually visited during ceremonies only. About 3 kilometres away, the hermitage of Saint-Gens gathers chapel and spring in the garrigue. Walking among restanques, bories and baumes, plus day trips to Venasque, Saint-Didier, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Carpentras, Gordes and Avignon, are close at hand. A quiet rural base for villa guests combining perched villages, Comtat and Provence.
